Melvin Jones
As recognition of humanitarian work, a Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) is an honor presented to those who donate US $1,000 to LCIF, or to people for whom a donation was made by others. The Fellowship was established in 1973 and the Progressive program (PMJF) began in 1986 in response to Lions’ request for a way to extend their commitment to LCIF. These members are signified by a ‘diamond’ on their fellowship pin. Several Webster Groves Lions have been awarded the PMJF honor.
The Webster Groves Lions participate in this program by honoring individuals for their contributions to society, community, and the club. A donation in the amount of $1,000 is made to LCIF in the honoree’s name.
The MJF donations are the backbone of LCIF, providing 75 percent of the foundation’s revenue.
